Works on repairing overpass at km 1062 of the M-4 "Don" relief road are ahead of schedule
Bridge workers keep repairing an overpass at km 1062 of the M-4 "Don" relief motorway.
To date, the work at the overpass is carried out ahead of time. In just a fortnight the bridge builders managed to dismantle the bridge deck and replace the worn-out span girders on the structure's right side.
The operations are performed virtually around the clock. The dismantling job was carried out at night during the period of low traffic intensity.
More than 40 workers are employed at the site.
The repair works are implemented in two stages. In this regard, the traffic is rerouted through the lane intended for oncoming traffic. The traffic pattern has also been changed at the turning loops of the interchange.
In order to ensure seamless and safe traffic flow, it is vital to bring the overpass constructed in 1992 back to standard condition, as it is used by local residents who commute to and from Aksai and its districts every day. As soon as the weather permitted, bridge workers commenced their efforts.
It is scheduled to finish all operations by the end of 2025.
