Expansion of the overpass dimensions at the Adler Bypass completed
The builders have completed the installation of all metal cantilevers, to increase the dimensions of the bridge crossing to two lanes as part of the future interchange at the Eastern Portal of the Adler Bypass. The stage of moving bridge sections from temporary onto permanent supports, mounting engineering communications and noise barriers has begun.
The road builders will start installing asphalt layers using Superpave complex technology in April, and by the start of the tourist season, the guests and residents of Sochi will be able to ride down the overpass in both directions.
Meanwhile, the construction of pile foundations and footings for 30% of the piers of the future road structures as part of Phase IV of the Adler Bypass has been completed in Kudepsta. The height of some piers of the new bridge across the river has already reached the height of the Kudepstinsky viaduct down the A-147 highway.
At the Eastern Portal near Ivanovskaya Street, all 23 bored piles with fiberglass reinforcement frames have been set up. They will help hold back the slope when the tunnel boring complex bores into it. In road construction, this technology is applied quite rarely — and mainly in tunnel construction.
In future, the Adler bypass will link the Kudepsta neighbourhood with Vysokoye. The construction of the new section will bolster up the tourist potential of this area, reduce travel time to Sochi Airport and Krasnaya Polyana, ensure the diversion of transit traffic from the Adler's resort area and enhance nature-positive effect on the coastal area.
