Over 4 years motorists made more than 24 million trips along the Losev and Pavlovsk bypass down the M-4 Don

On 4 July 2020, precisely three years ago, the highly anticipated bypass of Losevo and Pavlovsk along the M-4 Don Highway in Voronezh Region was launched. The roadway rapidly gained popularity among motorists. In just four years, drivers made around 24 million trips along this section.
During the peak months of the holiday season — July and August — motorists make more than a million trips along the bypass monthly. The traffic intensity more than doubles and reaches an average of almost 37 thousand cars per day. On peak days (usually in mid-August), up to 50,500 cars run across it daily.
That said, the popularity of the bypass is growing year by year. During June-September 2023, 3.376 million vehicle trips were recorded there. This year, this trend still prevails.
On weekends and holidays, passenger cars account for most of the traffic — about 80%.
Until July 2020, the route southwards along the M-4 Don highway went through the village of Losevo and the town of Pavlovsk in the Voronezh region. Back then, it was one of the most congested sections of the M-4 Highway, with narrow lanes, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, speed limits in built-up areas.
With the opening of the bypass, motorists gained access to an 85-kilometer section of road classified as first-class that features four lanes, separated traffic flows, and five interchanges with the regional and local roads. The speed limit is 110 km/h over there.
